Taryn Haas is the daughter of Doug and Kory Ute and Ed Haas. She came to “State” from Prospect, Ohio after graduating from Elgin High School. She not only excelled academically but, was also a three-time All-Ohioan in volleyball.

While at “State”, Taryn was a four year starter and team captain, set multiple game, match and career records. She ranks first all-time in assists (5,104), serve percentage (96.8%), service attempts (449), sets played (444) and matches played (136). Additionally she holds single season records in assists (1,626), assists per set (12.7), service attempts (305), sets played (128) and matches played (38).

Taryn’s individual honors continued when she was named WVIAC Player of the Year in 2005 and the WVIAC Tournament’s Most Valuable Player in 2006. She helped lead the volleyball team to the WVIAC Season and Tournament Championships as well as “State’s” first NCAA Tournament berth in 2006.

Not only did Taryn excel on the volleyball court, she maintained a 4.0 grade point average and received the “W” Club Outstanding Scholar Athlete for 4 straight years. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and continued her studies at Ohio State University, earning her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in 2011.

Taryn is currently in her seventh year of teaching 2nd grade in the Jonathan Alder School District. After coaching high school volleyball for 3 years, Taryn is now in her third year as Head Volleyball Coach at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.

Ms. Taryn Haas enjoys spending time with family and friends and maintains a close relationship with her Yellow Jacket teammates and coaches. She especially loves her yearly trips back to “State” for Homecoming and diligently follows WVSU volleyball. Taryn is looking forward to marrying Cory Fuller in June 2014 and they will reside in Ostrander, Ohio.
