Coached the men's basketball program from 1983-87. He guided the Yellow Jackets to the West Virginia Conference regular season and tournament titles in 1987, earning conference coach of the year honors. He guided West Virginia State to the NAIA national championship the same season, suffering a 79-77 loss to Washburn (Kan.).
