West Virginia State University Athletics

Anderson played on WVSU's basketball team and was the team's second leading scorer. He was second in the WVIAC in foul shooting and a member of the WVIAC championship team and played in the NAIA National Basketball Tournament in Kansas City, Mo.

Anderson is a Charleston native and played basketball at Garnet High School and also at Charleston High School.

During his first year of high school, Anderson became known as "Johnny Jump." The team depended on him to get the ball up the floor. He was named to all-state and all-conference teams.
