Box Score 4 Fans had their choice Saturday afternoon in Institute.
The West Virginia State baseball and softball teams hosted doubleheaders with both starting at 1 p.m.
A few hours later the Yellow Jackets had completed a clean sweep on both diamonds with the ladies finishing first with 2-1 and 5-1 wins over Glenville State.
Not long after the men wrapped things up with 3-2 and 6-4 wins over Wheeling Jesuit.
"Two great wins today," WVSU baseball coach
Sean Loyd said. "I was proud of how we battled and made big pitches when we need to."
Sophomore
Calli Norton scattered eight Pioneer hits and did not allow an earned run in game one in softball action.
Zoey Carte was hit by a pitch to open the fifth inning and ended up scoring from third on
Shandell Curtis' bunt two batters later to break a scoreless tie.
Kayleigh Thompson then singled to drive in
Brookelyn Hale to give WVSU a 2-0 lead which was all Norton needed.

Kerri Blackwell said.
"Small ball" served the Jackets well again in the nightcap.
Thompson led of the second with a single to right and later stole second. After
Allyson Funk singled up the middle to give WVSU runners on first and third Carte laid down a bunt toward third and Thompson came in to score on the throw to first.
The Yellow Jackets broke the game open in the fifth when
Brittany Allison tripled down the right field line with the bases loaded and then scurried home score a couple of pitches later on a wild pitch to give WVSU a 5-0 lead.
Chelsey Parkins tossed a complete game striking out six and allow just four hits.
"I am so proud of the effort shown to capitalize on our opportunites," Blackwell said. "Those were two great wins today."
Next door the Yellow Jacket baseball squad started the day with a dramatic, extra inning win.
WVSU took a 1-0 lead in the third when
Ryan McDonough led off with a single, advanced to second on a
Jonathan Cline sacrifice bunt and to third on a ground out. He came home on a wild pitch for the game's first run.
Trayvis Patterson singled and came around to score on a double off the bat of
Trenton Porter to make the score 2-0 after six innings.
The Cardinals rallied to tie the score though with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh.
Jamison Jones led off the eighth with a single and moved to second on Porter's single. Josh Kiser followed by drawing a walk to load the bases.
Jones was thrown out trying to steal home with Porter and Kiser moving up a base.
Porter came home with the game winner a pitch later on a wild pitch.
Trey Salisbury picked up the win in relief.
The Yellow Jackets made sure there was no such drama in game two by jumping out to a quick 5-0 lead after two innings.
Jones got things started with a two-run home run over the left field fence in the first. McDonough drew a bases loaded pass later in the frame to make the count 3-0.
WVSU to advantage of a couple of Wheeling Jesuit miscues to add two unearned runs in the second and another in the fourth.
Dustin Kincaid scattered five hits and allowed just two earned runs while going the distance to earn the victory.
"Our offense did just enough," Loyd said. "We are learning a lot about ourselves in terms of how we react when games are tight."
