West Virginia State University Athletics

Kerri Blackwell enters her fourth year as the Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) at West Virginia State University in 2020-21.

As the SWA at WVSU, Blackwell is involved in senior-level management decisions within the athletic department and in the conference. She regularly communicates with the athletics director and the league commissioner for leadership development and to confer on major departmental, university and conference initiatives.

Blackwell was instrumental in creating the proposal that was responsible for WVSU Athletics being awarded a NCAA CHOICES grant in 2019. The grant provides funding for three years to implement a campus-wide alcohol awareness program.

Blackwell has been a member of the West Virginia State athletic department since 2007. She joined West Virginia State as an Assistant Softball Coach before being appointed the Head Softball Coach in 2014. She captured two WVIAC Tournament championships during her tenure as a softball coach at WVSU.

Blackwell earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Teaching from the University of Charleston in 2002.
