INSTITUTE, W. Va. – The West Virginia State baseball team closed the 2026 season with a doubleheader sweep over University of Charleston Sunday afternoon, taking the first game 8-0 before taking game two 6-5.

After UC stranded a pair of runners in the top of the first, the Yellow Jackets exploded for six runs in the bottom of the first, including home runs by Brodie Guenther and Ayden Youngblood, who had a two-run home run. Other RBI hits came from Angel Oquendo, Ethyn Barnitz and Ethan Spolarich to put WVSU ahead 6-0.

The Yellow Jackets added a run in the fourth, as Youngblood led off with a bunt single, stealing second before scoring on an RBI single by Tyler Perdue to extend the lead to 7-0. After Zane Loveday drew a five-pitch walk, Oquendo hit a sacrifice fly to make it an 8-0 Yellow Jackets lead.
