The West Virginia State women's tennis team earned the top seed in this year's Mountain East Conference tournament last week by defeating West Virginia Wesleyan and UVa-Wise to earn its fifth straight regular season league crown.

    Along the way the Yellow Jackets ran their winning streak against conference opponents to 50 matches.

     The Jackets open defense of their title at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Marshall University's Brian David Fox Tennis Center in Huntington.

     WVSU will face the winner of Friday's quarterfinal contest between West Liberty and UVa-Wise.
