WVSU drops road contest at Walsh

NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The West Virginia State University women's tennis team dropped a 4-1 nonconference match Friday afternoon at Walsh University. Talia Nichols claimed a victory at No. 3 singles for the Yellow Jackets, while the pairing of Lea Lugmayr and Astrid Meunier Lemoine picked up a win in doubles play.

Lugmayr and Meunier Lemoine earned WVSU's doubles victory with a 6-3 decision at No. 3 doubles, but Walsh secured wins in the remaining two flights to claim the doubles point. Nichols registered a straight-sets victory at No. 3 singles, winning 6-4, 6-5 to earn the lone point for the Yellow Jackets. The Cavaliers secured wins at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4 singles to lock up the 4-1 overall win.

WVSU concludes its fall schedule Saturday, Oct. 3, traveling to face Ashland University. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
