Women's Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Selection, 3 Individual Honors

INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- The West Virginia State University women's tennis program has been selected as Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Teams. In addition to the team selection, three athletes achieved individual honors. 

Among the women's players who earned this award were Amanda Menendez Thomasson, Christina Karagrigoriou and Mulema Mbapeh earned the honors. 

"I could not be more proud of the student athletes for putting in the hard work in the classroom," Head Coach Andre Cunningham said. "Each year we continue to have tremendous success in the classroom and we're continuing to build on the tennis court towards consistent success. Congratulations to the student-athletes for a wonderful year in the classroom and on the court!" 

In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 GPA for the current academic year. For the team award, the team GPA needs to be 3.20 or above.
