Box Score 1 | Box Score 2       This week's weather-induced layoff did not seem to faze the WVSU men's basketball team as the Yellow Jackets looked sharp from beginning to end in downing visiting Notre Dame College 85-74 Sunday evening.
      Junior Markee Mazyck led WVSU with 26 points and 13 rebounds while senior Damion Harris, who did not play in a previous 11-point loss at Notre Dame, hit 9-of-11 shot attempts and finished with 20 points.
      The Jackets took the action to the Falcons hitting 50 percent overall from the floor, a blistering 45.8 from 3-point range and 75 percent from the foul line.
      Some of the best ball movement of the season helped those percentages as WVSU players regularly found the open man.
      Point guard Dominic Phillips added 16 points and handed out a season high nine assists. Tyler Thompson als contributed four assists as WVSU finished with 20, the most by the Jackets in a game all year.
      The Yellow Jackets also showed some resolve down the stretch as they saw a 13-point lead evaporate when Notre Dame tied the score at 70-70 with 3:51 to play.
       Senior Dimitrios Jelen-Joy answered with a 3-pointer on the next WVSU possession and again a minute later to push the advantage to 76-70 and the Jackets were not seriously threatened the rest of the way.
       Jelen-Joy finished with 11 points.
       The Notre Dame women's team deefated WVSU 81-64 in Sunday's first game.
        Freshman Montrail Roberts led the Yellow Jackets with 15 points  with Alexus Hobbs and Deyahnna Styles adding 14 each and Shealynn Shafer nine points and 11 rebounds.
