Box Score The WVSU baseball team defeated Shepherd 5-3 Thursday evening in a second round winner's bracket contest at the WVIAC championship tournament in Beckley.
After falling behind 1-0 early the Yellow Jackets scored four times on five hits in the third inning to take control.
Andrew Pickering and Tyler Payne each finished with three hits. Tyler Thompson pitched eight strong innings to get the win with Joshua Falbo picking up his second save in two days by throwing a scoreless ninth.
The Jackets next play at 3:30 p.m. Friday against the winner of Friday morning's Charleston versus Seton Hill game.
