Baseball Wins Home Opener, Game Two Suspended, Saturday Moved to Buffalo

Box Score Third baseman Matthew Washington led off the sixth inning with a home run to break a tie and senior pitcher set down the side in the top of the seventh to give WVSU a 4-3 win over visiting Clarion Friday.

It was Washington's second RBI of the contest. Trayvis Patterson drove in a pair of runs in the first inning with a double. Washington drove in Patterson with a single a couple of batters later.

Clarion came back with single runs in the second and fourth to tie the score before Washington's blast.

Hall struck out five and walked just one while allowing only one earned run in going all seven innings.

The nightcap went to extra innings and was suspended because of darkness with the score tied 5-5 in the bottom of the eighth.

Brandon Wright drove in two runs on three hits before the contest was halted.

That game will be finished at 1 p.m, Saturday followed by the originally scheduled nine-inning contest.

Both games have been moved to Buffalo High due to the prediction of rain. The Buffalo Field is artificial turf.
