Following a pattern they hope to break in the upcoming Mountain East tournament the Yellow Jackets dropped the opening game of a four-game weekend series before coming back to win the next three for the third weekend in a row.
Saturday WVSU lost 4-2 at the University of Charleston in the series opener.Â
After that the Yellow Jacket hitters took over.
WVSU took game two Saturday 9-5, game one Sunday 8-2 and the series finale 9-2.
After getting just five hits in the series opener the Jackets collected 30 over the next three games.
Brandon Wright hit .500 over the four games,
Dylan Grimm .417, Josh Kiser .333, and
Jamison Jones .313.
Trenton Porter put up a .706 slugging percentage and had two home runs in the final game.
Sunday the WVSU pitchers also jumped in with Josh Falbo throwing six hitless innings and
Curtis Johnson allowing just just one bunt single in the seventh inning.
Game One -- UC 4, WVSU 2:
Brandon Wright had two hits but the Jackets were held to just five overall as the Golden Eagles scored single runs in four seperate innings to earn the win.
Game two -- WVSU 9, UC 5: After falling behind 5-3 when Charleston scored four times in the fifth the Jackets came back with four runs of their own in the top of the sixth  and then added two more in the ninth.
Trey Salisbury and
Curtis Johnson each threw an inning of shut out relief to secure the victory.
Trayvis Patterson had three hits,
Trenton Porter,
Dylan Grimm, and
Jamison Jones each had two.
Sunday Game One -- WVSU 8, UC 2: Falbo and Johnson combined to throw a one-hitter
Joshua Kiser finished with three hits and
Justin Graham two as the Jackets scored three times in the fourth and four times in the sixth after falling behind 1-0 early.
Sunday Game two -- WVSU 9, UC 2: Porter belted two home runs and drove in four runs and Patterson hit a two-run home run as the Jackets rolled to a 7-0 lead and the win.
