Box Score A third straight Mountain East Conference championship was not to be for the WVSU baseball team.
It was a windy and chilly Sunday in Beckley but the Yellow Jackets ran into a red-hot Shepherd (37-13)squad that pounded out 22 hits on the way to scoring a 19-2 win.
Sophomore
Trayvis Patterson drove in both WVSU runs, including one in the top of the first that gave the Jackets a brief lead.
Patterson and
Justin Graham each had two hits.
The Yellow Jackets' Graham,
Jamison Jones, and
Curtis Johnson were named to the All-Tournament team.
WVSU (32-15) entered the weekend ranked seventh but was not selected to the seven team NCAA Atlantic Regional leaving Shepherd as the lone MEC representative.
