The Yellow Jackets dropped a pitchers duel 3-2 in game one only to see their bats come alive in a 9-1 second game win as they split a twinbill with visiting Concord Sunday afternoon.
WVSU pitcher
Eric Roberts and the Mountain Lions' Chris Kelly each went the distance in the opener and each allowed just three hits and two earned runs.
A single unearned run coming off of an infield error proved to be the difference.
The Yellow Jackets made sure a single run would not beat them in game two as they jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the second inning.
The first two WVSU runners to cross the plate did not have to hurry.
Justin Graham was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and the next batter up,
Brandon Wright, drew a walk.
Jamison Jones knocked out a triple to drive in two later in the frame.
The Yellow Jackets added three more runs in the fifth as Jones led off with a single and scored on a triple off Josh Kiser's bat. Kiser came home a few seconds later when
Phillip Mandt belted a double.
Three batters later
Dylan Grimm drew a bases loaded walk to force home another run.
Dustin Kincaid pitched seven strong innings, striking out nine and allowing five hits, to pick up the win.
The Yellow Jackets move to 15-9 overall and 10-4 in Mountain East Conference play.
