Box Score The Yellow Jackets split a baseball doubleheader with Urbana Friday in a Mountain East Conference matchup at Calvin Bailey Field.
The Blue Knights rolled to a 7-2 win in game one after jumping out to an early 5-0 lead with a run in the second and four in the third.
Trenton Porter and
Jamison Jones drove in solo runs for WVSU in the bottom of the third to get the Jackets back into the game.
WVSU batters could manage just three more hits the rest of the way  though and Urbana added a couple of insurance runs in the sixth.
Game two was a different story though.as it was the Yellow Jackets who took a 3-0 lead after two innings.
Freshman
Dylan Grimm led off the bottom of the first with a single and ended up scoring from third three batters later on a
Trayvis Patterson groundout for the first WVSU run.
Brandon Wright drove in
Jalen Benjamin with a single and then came around to score on a Porter double two batters later to make it 3-0.
The visitors rallied with single runs in the fourth and sixth and an unearned run in the eighth to knot the score at 3-3.
Benjamin reached on a two out infield erron in the bottom of the eighth.
Jacob Frantz followed with a single to move Benjamin into scoring position.
Justin Graham came in to run for Benjamin and did not have to wait long as Wright singled to center to bring him home with the go ahead run.
Curtis Johnson drew a groundball out, allowed a single, then struck out the last two Blue Knight hitters to earn the win in relief.
