Box Score The WVSU baseball team fell behind 1-0 when visiting Ohio Valley picked up an unearned run in the third inning Wednesday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets made sure that single run did not stand up though as they came back to score a pair of runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh.
The first came when Phil Mandt knocked in
Trayvis Patterson with a single and the second came a few moments later when the Fighting Scots turned a bases loaded double-play with no outs allowing
Trenton Porter to sprint home and give WVSU a 2-1 lead.
Porter drove in an insurance run in the eighth when his two out single scored
Jacob Frantz from third.
Colby Gainer went five innings as the starter .
Kip Brewer then threw two scoreless frames to pick up the win.Â
Will Ore pitched a scoreless eighth and
Curtis Johnson tossed a perfect ninth to earn the save.
The Yellow Jackets host Urbana in an MEC doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Friday.
