The WVSU basketball squads hit the road today as second semester conference play tips off across the area.
The Yellow Jackets play at nationally ranked West Liberty with the women's contest starting at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men at 7:30.
The Hilltopper men are currently sitting atop the coaches' poll with a 10-0 record while the West Liberty women are ranked 19th with a 9-1 mark.
The WVSU women (5-5 overall, 2-2 in MEC) are paced by freshman
Laura Szorenyi who is averaging 15.4 points per game and Shae Hines with a 13.3 scoring average.
Shealyn Shafer and
Alexus Hobbs lead the squad in rebounding averaging 8.2 and 7.2 respectively.
Leading the way for the Yellow Jacket men (4-5, 2-2) is senior
Markee Mazyck who is averaging 22.4 points and 5.5 rebounds a contest while
Robert Fomby is averaging 14.4 points and 7.0 rebounds a game.
