Box Score The WVSU men's basketball team rallied from a 15-point deficit to pull within one point with 3:54 to play before finally falling 93-89 to visiting Wheeling Jesuit Saturday afternoon in front of a boisterous Walker Center crowd.
The Yellow Jackets were forced to play down the stretch without starters
Markee Mazyck and
Dimitrios Jelen-Joy who each was charged with a technical for their fifth foul.
Mazyck went out with 4:42 to play and WVSU trailing by five. The 6-foot-6 junior still led all scorers on the day with 27 points.
Jelen-Joy hit back-to-back 3-pointers immediately after that, the second cutting the Cardinal lead to 77-76, but picked up two personals and the technical in a 42 second stretch right afterwards.
He finished with 12 points after hitting 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.
The Yellow Jackets shot a torrid 61.3% while putting up 62 points in the second half to fight their way back into the game.
Damion Harris finished with 18 points and 8 rebounds and
Dominic Phillips added 12 points and 3 assists, fro WVSU.
