The Yellow Jackets defeated Fairmont State 3-1 in an opening round game at the WVIAC Championship tournament in Beckley Wednesday.
   Tyler Payne drove in two runs on a home run and two singles while Andrew Pickering knocked in the other WVSU run.
   Devin Bowles allowed just one run on five hits and Joshua Falbo threw a perfect ninth to pick up the save.
  The Yellow Jackets face Shepherd next at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Beckley.
