No. 32 WVSU Women's Tennis falls to No. 45 Florida Southern, 6-1

LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 32 West Virginia State University women's tennis team fell to No. 45 Florida Southern, 6-1, in the first match of its spring break road trip on Monday. The final scoreline was deceptive as the Yellow Jackets were highly competitive in both singles and doubles play.

No. 2 and No. 3 doubles were both narrowly lost by WVSU. Tuva Wallin and Lea Rolland were edged 4-6 in the No. 3 pairing before Emily Moore and Maya Haidari were defeated by the same scoreline in the No. 2 pairing.

Haidari claimed the sole singles victory for West Virginia State in the No. 4 spot. She lost the first set, 5-7, before she won the second set, 7-5. She then outlasted Florida Southern's Flor Salerno in the tie-breaking third set, 10-8.

Both Gaya Solomon and Chante Malo also forced third sets at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Both Solomon and Malo were narrowly defeated, 10-8, in their tie-breaking sets.
