Recap

With the bases loaded and one out, pitcher Daniel Brandon was brought into the game in the bottom of the second to get out of a jam. A fielder's choice allowed one run to score before he got the next batter to fly out, limiting the damage that could've been (1-0).

The Rock posted four runs in the bottom of the fourth with a leadoff double, a RBI-single, a RBI-double, and a two-run homerun (5-0). In the next three at bats, two flyouts with a groundout in between ended the rally.

A seven-run fifth inning put the game out of reach (12-0).

The Yellow Jackets finally got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth with a sacrifice fly courtesy of Brendan Quinn (12-1). Brett Christian was responsible for moving Andrew Massey into scoring position with a double into right field.

West Virginia State was able to get its bats going in the top of the seventh when Mineo retired from his starting pitcher duties to make way for McClymonds. Michael Stone cleared the bases with a double into right center field (12-4).

WVSU did not make up any more runs in the last two innings, but did keep the deficit from worsening after the devastating fifth.
