Yellow Jacket pitching dominated on the softball diamond for the second day in a row as WVSU swept visiting Urbana by scores of 5-1 and 5-2 Monday.
Calli Norton scattered five hits and struck out four in going the distance in the opener.
Chelsey Parkins allowed just six hits while fanning eight in game two.
"Pitching is doing an excellent job pitching out of jams," WVSU softball coach
Kerri Blackwell said. "And our defense is playing lights out."
The Yellow Jackets committed just two errors in four games over Sunday and Monday.
Norton and Parkins received plenty of offensive support also Monday.
WVSU hitters banged out nine hits in the opener with
Dee Dee Loftis and
Shandell Curtis each driving in two runs.
Allyson Funk knocked in two runs in the nightcap with a double and a triple with
Brittany Allison and
Zoey Carte also driving in runs.
"I was very pleased with the effort on the offensive side today," Blackwell said.
The Yellow Jackets are scheduled to travel to North Division leading Wheeling Jesuit Tueday for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
