The Yellow Jacket men's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 89-83 decision to conference co-leader Shepherd Thursday night in Fleming Hall.

Senior Anton Hutchins led WVSU with 24 points even though he logged just 23 minutes of action due to foul trouble.

Hutchins went to the bench with his fourth foul less than two minutes into the second half with the Jackets leading 54-48. He returned at the 5:39 mark with WVSU then trailing by three.

Leading by four points with just over a minute to play the Rams hit six straight free throws to seal the victory in a game that featured eight ties and 16 lead changes.

Dominic Phillips added 18 points and five assists with Terry Wood scoring 15 points, Dimitrios Jelen-Joy 13, and Steven WIng pulling down 11 rebounds.
