INSTITUTE, W.Va. — West Virginia State University's athletic department recorded a 3.20 cumulative GPA for the Spring 2025 semester, marking the 14th consecutive term that Yellow Jacket student-athletes have achieved a departmental GPA of 3.0 or higher.
A total of 291 student-athletes contributed to the department's academic performance. Ten of WVSU's 17 varsity sports posted a team GPA of 3.0 or better. Women's soccer led all programs with a 3.65 GPA, while women's tennis saw all six of its student-athletes finish the semester above a 3.0.
One hundred eighty-two of WVSU's student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the spring term.
"Their success off the field reflects the hard work they put in to achieve academic excellence at WVSU," assistant athletic director Kelly Shepherd said. "I am proud of each and every one of our student-athletes and the support of the coaches, administrators and faculty that have supported them in reaching their goals."
