Kelly Shepherd enters her fifth year as the Assistant Athletic Director at West Virginia State University in 2025-26.
Prior to joining the administrative staff at WVSU, Shepherd worked with the Eastern Kentucky University football program as a recruiting assistant since the spring of 2020.

From May to November 2018, Shepherd was the director of football operations at California University of Pennsylvania. She was involved in all aspects of operations including team travel and pre/post game meals. She also assisted in all recruiting efforts for unofficial visits and worked directly with the athletics academic coordinator in player academics and scheduling.

Shepherd was an operations assistant/football operations graduate assistant at Fairmont State from August 2017 to May 2018. She assisted in all football, basketball, and acrobatics and tumbling game day operations, and assisted the director of football operations in creating weekly itineraries for players and coaches and coordinating post-game meals.

From May 2015 to May 2016, Shepherd was a football student-assistant at Kutztown University. She filmed practices and games, edited film and assisted recruits during visits.

Shepherd also worked with the Chicago Bears during the summer of 2018 as a member of the training camp events and entertainment staff. She was a marketing intern during the summer and fall of 2019 with the Naval Academy Athletics Association.

Shepherd earned a bachelor’s of science degree in leisure and sports studies from Kutztown University in May of 2016. She completed a master’s of science in sport management at West Virginia University in December 2018.
Shepherd resides in South Charleston with her husband Bryan and their husky Danny.
