NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- West Virginia State won their final two games of the Fast Pitch Dreams tournament at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex. State took down Covenant College 6-1 then held off Rochester Christian 4-2.

Game 1: WVSU 6, Covenant 1
WVSU plated two runs in the first inning and added four more across the third and fourth to back a complete-game performance from
Kaleigh Murphy. Murphy (4-2) allowed one run on eight hits with two strikeouts over seven innings.
Kylie Price led the offense, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored.
Autumn Hall contributed a two-run single in the third, while
Olivia Bell tripled in the first to drive in a run before scoring on an error. Covenant (8-11) scored its lone run in the second on an RBI single from Isabella Duran.
Game 2: WVSU 4, Rochester Christian 2
WVSU (8-6) took an early lead and held off Rochester Christian (0-2) behind
Kelley Bickers' complete-game effort. Bickers (3-2) struck out 10 while allowing two runs on three hits. The Yellow Jackets scored first on an RBI double from
Emma Pauley in the first. Hall extended the lead in the fourth with an inside-the-park home run, and
Kerigan Moore plated a run on a wild pitch. Hall added another run on a double steal in the fifth. Rochester Christian scored twice in the sixth on a two-run single from Katie Witkowski, but WVSU was able to retire four of the next six batters plus a fielder's choice to secure the victory.
WVSU begins their Mountain East Schedule on Saturday with a home doubleheader against the Glenville State Pioneers. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
