2/17/2025 12:00:00 PM

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State men's basketball head coach Bryan Poore announced Monday that assistant coach Marcus Reed has been elevated to associate head coach, effective immediately.

"Marcus has developed into one of the best assistant coaches I have had in my 26 year tenure at the helm of the men's basketball program here at West Virginia State University," Poore said. "His work ethic and loyalty is second to none and his ability to cultivate rapport with recruits and our players is exceptional. He truly is my right hand man and deserves the title of associate head coach!"

The 2024-25 season is Reed's sixth with the program. WVSU has earned two at-large NCAA Tournament bids with Reed on the coaching staff, first in 2021 and again in 2023. State has also had three consecutive 20-win seasons with Reed on staff.

Reed joined the Yellow Jackets staff after spending a year as an intern with the Marshall University Men's Basketball team.
