Twelve and Counting: State Stays Perfect Against Glenville State

GLENVILLE, W.Va. — West Virginia State surged past Glenville State with a six-goal second half and won, 8–1, on Sunday at I.L. & Sue Morris Stadium. The Yellow Jackets (13-3-1, 12-1-1 MEC) remained perfect in the series at 12–0 since the program began in 2020.

WVSU led 2–1 at the break after Laura Pouedras (34th) and Hannah Nuñez Perreira (35th) scored less than a minute apart.

The second half belonged to State. Elise Rennie made it 3–1 in the 48th minute (assist Rachel Okoro), then Okoro delivered a rapid hat trick in the 58th (assist Rennie), 70th and 73rd minutes to blow the match open. Aika Tobaru added an insurance strike in the 78th (assist Sharon Freire Omonigho), and Madison Rose Fortin closed the scoring in the 88th.

The Pioneers pulled one back in the 55th through Giselle Hamilton.

WVSU outshot Glenville State 23–7 (shots on goal 19–3) and finished with a 2–1 edge in first-half corners. Poppy Bastock made two saves while sharing the netminding in the win; GSU keepers combined for 11 saves.
