Hat Trick or Treat! París Fílter’s Flurry Fuels WVSU’s 6–3 Win

INSTITUTE, W.Va. — Sara París Fílter recorded a natural hat trick with three consecutive goals in the final 30 minutes as West Virginia State pulled away from West Virginia Wesleyan, 6–3, on Wednesday night at Lakin-Ray Field at Dickerson Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets (12-3-1, 11-1-1 MEC) raced out to a 3–0 first-half lead before the Bobcats (7-7-2, 5-7-1) battled back to tie the match early in the second half. París Fílter's 61st-minute go-ahead strike reclaimed the advantage for State, and she sealed the win with goals in the 88th and 90th minutes to complete the natural hat trick.

Aika Tobaru and Laura Pouedras also scored in the first half, while Wesleyan's Paloma Zamora and Ava Badallo netted goals to trim the deficit before halftime. A WVSU own goal in the 51st minute brought the match even at 3-3 before State's offense erupted down the stretch.

West Virginia State dominated the stat sheet, outshooting Wesleyan 24–2 and holding a 7–2 edge in corner kicks. Maite Coutinho made seven saves for the Bobcats, while Poppy Bastock earned the win in goal for State.

West Virginia State travels to Glenville, W.Va., on Sunday, Nov. 2, for a 2 p.m. match against Glenville State next — the penultimate contest of the regular season.
