BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — West Virginia State University (9-2-2, 8-1-1 MEC) put on a goal-scoring clinic, defeating Salem (0-13-0, D-II Independent) 18-1 at The Bridge Sports Complex, rewriting the program's record books with a night of historic performances.
Leila Karam and Sandra Linares each netted four goals and an assist, tying the school record for most goals (4) and most points (9) in a single game. Linares also recorded 11 shots, matching another individual record. Midfielder Aika Tobaru assisted on four goals, tying a WVSU mark, while the team shattered several records, including most points (55), goals (18), assists (19), and shots (53) in a game.
