ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FLA. — West Virginia Yellow Jackets Women's Tennis concluded their 2022 campaign Tuesday at Sanlando Park.

State fell to No. 10 Hawaii Pacific 4-0. It was just the third time this season the Yellow Jackets have suffered a shutout. They finish the season at 14-8.

The Yellow Jackets were forced to play catch up early after Hawaii Pacific made quick work at the doubles point, winning on Courts 1 and 2 6-0 and 6-1.

The third duo, with Lea Rolland and Julia Daskiewicz, were trailing 5-1 when their match was unfinished.

Things looked grim as singles play began, with veteran Gaya Solomon dropping her opening set 6-1, to Top 50-ranked Elodie Busson (34) at first singles and senior Chante Malo suffering a sweep on Court 2 to No. 20 Marlene Tilgnor.

Malo and Solomon both dropped their second sets, handing the Sharks a 3-0 match advantage.

Close contests remained on other courts, with Rolland knotted up in a tight 2-3 decision at No. 5 singles for over 25 minutes of play. She ultimately fell in identical 6-2, 6-2 sets, handing Hawaii Pacific match point, 4-0.

Junior Maya Haidari threatened on Court 3 after taking four games in the opening set and was up 3-0 before the match was called.

Daskiewicz fell in her opening set at 6 singles 6-2, but battled back to also take a 3-0 lead in the second set before the match was left unfinished.
