INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- The Yellow Jacket softball team dropped the first doubleheader of the 2022 campaign by a final of 13-0 and 10-4.

Game 1: UINDY 13, WVSU 0, Final/5
The Greyhounds put up four runs in the top of the first. They scored two runs on a fielder's choice coupled with a fielding error. Another run came in on a passed ball and the last run of the inning scored with the same scenario as the first two. Only one of the runs was earned with three errors made by the Yellow Jackets in the half inning.
UINDY added three runs in the second inning, 7-0. One run was scored on a single through the right side before two runs scored on a single through the left side. A triple scored two more in the third followed by an RBI-single that made it 10-0 in favor of Indianapolis.
Two more RBI-singles in the top of the fourth pushed the deficit to 12-0. The Greyhounds scored once more in the inning on a throw to second with a runner stealing.
The Yellow Jackets were able to hold UINDY scoreless in the fifth inning with Emilee Walker in the circle. They also picked up their first hits of the game in the bottom of the fifth when both Emily Moore and Paige Sccruggs singled.
Game 2: UINDY 10, WVSU 4, Final/7
The Greyhounds scored four runs off three hits in the top of the first. Pitcher Autumn Thompson settled after that and held UINDY scoreless until the fifth when a run scored on a sacrifice fly, 5-0.
After two runs were tacked on with three hits by Indianapolis in the top of the sixth, WVSU finally got on the scoreboard with an RBI-double into shallow right field, 7-1. Thompson drove in Kerigan Moore all the way from first base with the bloop double. UINDY answered with three more runs in the top of the seventh Tori Lambert drove in pinch runner Emele Clark, 10-2. Then, two batter later, Kasey Murphy roped one over the left field fence to score pinch runner Addi Dillow. Jayde Baron struck out in the next at-bat to quell the comeback opportunity.
