No. 30 Yellow Jackets roll on Davis & Elkins, 7-0

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The No. 30 West Virginia State University women's tennis team opened conference play with a match against Davis & Elkins at Coonskin Park on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets swept in both doubles and singles play to shutout the Senators, 7-0.

West Virginia State improves to 5-4 on the season and 1-0 in the Mountain East Conference with the win. Meanwhile, D&E drops to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the MEC with the defeat.

WVSU quickly won the doubles point by not giving up more than one set in all three pairings. The Yellow Jackets then went on to win all of their singles matches in two sets. Emily Moore did not give up a single point to her opponent while both Maya Haidari and Lea Rolland only allowed one point to be scored by their opponents through two sets.

State is scheduled for a regional clash with Slippery Rock (6-3, 1-0 PSAC) next on Saturday, April 2nd. The match will be played at Schoenbaum Tennis Courts and is set to start at 2 p.m.
