Softball opens up MEC Tournament with Win

Defending Mountain East Conference Tournament Champions West Virginia State University opens up the 2019 tournament with a 1-0 win over Notre Dame College. Emily Thompson pitched  her 6th complete game shut out striking out 5, allowing only 6 hits, and walking none in 7 innings. Her record improved to 9-4 on the season. 

The Jackets lone run was scored in the 3rd inning when Emma Ruth singled to left field scoring Kayleigh Thompson from second base, State advanced to play University of Charleston at 5:00 pm today
