WVSU Student-Athletes Turn in Record Breaking Performance in Classroom
West Virginia State University student-athletes have not only been excelling on the courts and fields but also in the classrooms and recorded their highest grade point average for a semester ever this fall.

The 243 Yellow Jacket student-athletes posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.1 as 51 percent finished the semester with a 3.0 or better GPA.

"Congratulations to all of our student-athletes on our record setting semester," WVSU Athletic Director Nate Burton said.

     Nearly 10 percent, 24, had a perfect 4.0 average.

"Hats off to our coaches and Kerri Blackwell, who handles academics for our department, "Burton said, "for putting our student-athletes in a position to achieve their academic goals and building a culture where posting GPAs above a 3.0 is the expectation and the norm."

All 124 student-athletes who received a 3.0 of better GPA will be honored at halftime of the men's basketball game against the University of Charleston on March 2.
