The West Virginia State football team will look to end the 2016 season on a high note and build some momentum going into the offseason and next year when the Yellow Jackets play at West Liberty Saturday.
Kickoff is at noon at West Family Stadium on the West Liberty campus.
The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 52-45 win over Concord last weekend while the Hilltoppers won 41-24 on the road at Glenville State to improve to 4-6 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
Junior quarterback
Matt Kinnick is closing in on some Yellow Jacket career passing records and needs just 15 completions to break the mark for career pass completions of 598 set by Kevin O'Brien in 2009.
Kinnick also needs 386 passing yards and eight touchdown passes to break the career records in those categories.
Junior receiver
Quinton Gray is coming off a tremendous outing last week that earned him national attention and junior linebacker
Dennis Gardeck is also closing in on career defensive marks for foced fumbles and tackles for a loss.
Last year's contest was a nail-biter with West Liberty coming out on top 42-36 with a touchdown with 1:30 to play.
Kinnick threw for 353 yards in that contest.
