INSTITUTE – Alex Shrader of the West Virginia State University football team has been named the Mountain East Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, for his performance in WVSU's victory over Monroe University on Saturday.

Shrader, a sophomore from Point Pleasant, W.Va., finished a perfect 8-for-8 on kick attempts, converting six extra points and a pair of field goals. His 38-yard field goal in the second quarter set a career high. He also executed nine kickoffs, averaging nearly 60 yards per kick while recording three touchbacks.

The selection marks Shrader's first career conference weekly honor and the second player of the week award of the season for the Yellow Jackets.

WVSU returns to action Saturday, Oct. 31, traveling to face Glenville State University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
