Box Score Visiting Shepherd scored the first six points of Sunday's contest.
Then the Yellow Jackets scored the next 12 and never looked back in picking up a 79-61 win in the Walker Convocation Center.

Shealyn Shafer, a jumper from
Alexus Hobbs, and a tip-in by Shae Hines tied the score and a tip-in by Shafer gave WVSU an 8-6 advantage.
Leading scorer
Laura Szorenyi joined in with a tip-in and Hines added another bucket before the Yellow Jackets slowed down.
The Rams (4-9 overall, 3-4 MEC) never recovered though. The best the visitors could do was pull to within three a couple of times in the first half but by the break the Yellow Jackets had built a 41-27 lead.
WVSU (6-7, 3-4) led by at least nine the rest of the way.
Szorenyi, a freshman, led all scorers with 21 on 7-of-14 shooting including 4-of-7 from 3-point range, and pulled down seven rebounds.
Shafer added 19 points and 12 rebounds while
Trina Current added 11 and Hines 10.
