INSTITUTE – Baylee Goins '26, a four-year member of the West Virginia State University women's basketball team, has been selected to play in the HBCU All Star Dream Classic August 8 at historic Rucker Park in Harlem, New York. She will become the second WVSU player to take part in the event, after Anysa Jordan participated in 2024.

"I'm blessed and grateful to be selected for the HBCU All-Star Game," Goins said. "I'm thankful for my family, coaches, teammates, and everyone who has supported me throughout my journey. I'm excited for this opportunity to represent West Virginia and West Virginia State University."

The HBCU All Star Dream Classic is a community streetball engagement experience that provides the community with a unique opportunity to witness historically black college & university sports & academic excellence in person. The HBCU Allstar Dream Classic, now in its 4th year, has inspired more high school student-athletes to attend HBCUs in pursuit of academic, career and sports and excel in life.

"We are incredibly proud of Baylee for earning the opportunity to compete in the HBCU All-Star Game in New York," WVSU head women's basketball coach Whitney Bays said.  "She has truly made a lasting impact on our Women's Basketball program. This recognition is a testament to the player and person she has become. I am super excited to watch her represent not only our University but also our State, as a native of West Virginia, on such a platform. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to know her as well as coach her, and continue to support her on her next Journey."

Goins will be one of 40 HBCU Players that will be participating in this HBCU Experience where Historically Black Colleges and Universities are performing on the same platform as NBA Players like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Allen Iverson and Julius "Dr. J" Erving.

Goins, a native of Nitro, W.Va., was named All-Mountain East Conference Second Team this past season after averaging 13.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. She scored her career high 35 points Jan. 10 against Point Park, one of five games where she scored 20+ points.
