Box Score 2 The WVSU basketball squads split a pair of home games against West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday afternoon in Walker Convocation Center.
In the opener the Yellow Jacket women triumphed 83-73 in a contest they led from start to finish.
The Yellow Jackets had their best shooting game of the season hitting 61.1 percent from the floor including 55.6 percent from 3-point range.
After taking a 38-32 lead into halftime WVSU steadily built it to 20 with 6:03 remaining. The Bobcats rallied to pull within four but the Yellow Jackets regained the momentum down the stretch.
Shea Hines and
Shealyn Shafer each finished with 19 points while
Alexus Hobbs added 15. Shafer pulled down 13 rebounds for the double-double.
In the men's contest it was the visiting Bobcats with the hot hand hitting 64.6 percent from the floor inclduing a scorching 63.6 percent from 3-point range.
Meanwhile the Yellow Jackets struggled to get shots to fall, hitting just 37.3 percent.
Markee Mazyck paced WVSU with 14 points.
