Yellow Jackets Drop 38-16 Decision at West Liberty

     The WVSU football team would like to have 15 minutes back.
     The 15 that made up the second quarter of Saturday's 38-16 loss at West Liberty to be exact.
     The Hilltoppers broke open a tight game with with 21 unanswered points in the second period, a run that was sparked by a 51-yard punt return 2:30 into the quarter.
     Good field position led to the next two West Liberty scores as the Hilltoppers took advantage of a short field to drive 40 and 49 yards to take a three touchdown lead.
    The Yellow Jacket offense began to click in the second half as WVSU scored on drives of 70, 73, and 67 yards but it was not enough as West Liberty added two more touchdowns on drives of 55 and 51 yards and a field goal.
     Matt Kinnick threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns to pace the Yellow Jacket attack while freshman Hosea Murphy led the defense with 11 tackles including eight solo.
     Kinnick connected with seven different Yellow Jackets with Dameon Garrett and Josh Caiquo pulling in five passes each.
     Freshman Tevin Brown led the run game with 47 yards on 11 carries.
     WVSU hosts Fairmont State at 1 p.m. Saturday.
