Last Second Shot Rolls Out, Jacket Women Drop Heartbreaker

Box Score

Senior Lexy Carson drove the length of the floor with 4.8 seconds and managed to get off a short range attempt just as the buzzer sounded but the ball rolled just off the side of the rim as the Yellow Jacket women came up just short in falling 65-64 to visiting Charleston in the first game in the Walker Convocation Center.
The visitors had taken a five point lead with 1:37 to play but WVSU senior Asia Greenleaf hit back-to-back buckets to narrow the gap.
Charleston missed as the shot clock expired and a jump ball resulted on the scramble for the rebound with possession going to WVSU setting up Carson's final attempt.
Senior Asia Greenleaf led WVSU with 19 points followed by Carson with 17 and Jordan Brock 11. India Taste pulled down 10 rebounds.
The Jackets finish in fourth place in the MEC and receive a first round bye in this week's conference tournament. They will play fifth place Fairmont State or 12th place Wv Wesleyan Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Charleston Civic Center.
