Box Score The Yellow Jackets fought right up until the final tick of the clock, droving 67 yards in the final 96 seconds to the Glenville State 6-yard line, before the clock ran out on their comeback as WVSU fell 17-12 Saturday.
Freshman kicker Josh Reuber hit all four of his field goal attempts to account for the Yellow Jackets' points.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 14-0 lead after one quarter of play but the WVSU defense tightened up to hold the visitors to just a third quarter filed goal teh rest of the way.
Reuber hit kicks of 36, 19, and 38 yards in the second period to pull the Yellow Jackets to within 14-9 at halftime.
After Glenville added three in the third period Reuber capped off a 10 play, 50 yard drive with a 42 yard kick to make the score 17-12.
The squads exchanged interceptions on the next two possessions.
With 5:59 to play the Yellow Jackets took over on their own 20 yard line after a Pioneer punt and put together a 13 play, 65 yard drive before being forced to turn the ball over on downs when quarterback
Tyler Seals was sacked on a fourth down and six to go play from the Glenville 15 yard line with 3:39 to play.
The Jacket defense did its job, forcing the Pioneers to punt with WVSU gettingthe ball back on its own 27 with 1:36 showing and setting up a dramatic final few seconds.
First the Yellow Jackets converted a fourth and 16 on a pass from Seals to
Shanin Bennefield.
Then, with 12 seconds remaining, Seals found Bennefield again over the middle and the senior streaked downfield for 54 yards before being stopped at the 6-yard line by the Pioneer safety.
With no timeouts remaining the Jackest rushed to the line to try and spike the ball and stop the clock but time ran out before they could run another play.
Seals completed 26-of-53 passes for 292 yards with Bennefield hauling in eight of those passes for 162 yards and as WVSU outgained the Pioneers 365 to 234 on the day.
