Trailing 44-33 early in the second half the Jackets took off on a 14-2 run to pull into a 47-46 lead with 12:22 to play on a driving layup by Taste.
After the teams traded a couple of buckets Taste hit another layup for a 51-49 lead with 11:35 showing and the Yellow Jackets were never caught again.
The victory moves WVSU to 7-11 overall and 7-8 in conference play while the Hilltoppers fall to 12-6 overall and 10-4 in the WVIAC.
