      The WVSU football team collectively picked itself up off the mat and put together a strong performance in a 48-14 loss at DIvision I Elon Saturday afternoon in front of over 7,000 fans.
     Going against what is considered to be their strongest opponent of the season the Yellow Jackets rolled up 251 yards of total offense with senior quarterback Ricky Phillips completing 14 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions while being sacked just twice. LeFloyd Phillips added 70 yards on the ground.
    WVIAC play begins next week with WVSU hosting defending conference champion Concord at 1 p.m.
