Lorraine, Pelegreen Toss Shutouts, Jackets Sweep Rams

Kelsey Lorraine and Sara Pelegreen held visiting third-place Shepherd scoreless for 13 innings Sunday afternoon as fourth-place WVSU swept a doubleheader by scores of 8-0 and 1-0.

The outcome means the squads will swap positions in the standings as the last week of the regular season begins.

Kayla Sturms and Desiree Giffin each drove in a run in the first inning to get things started in the opener. They received plenty of help as Brittany Hyatt drove in three runs and Sabrina Schouten two.

The nightcap was much more dramatic as Alana Weyant's one-out sacrifice fly to right sent Mattie Best home from third with the game winner in the bottom of the seventh.
