Box Score             After a scoreless first quarter host Concord scored on it first four possessions of the second period to take a commanding 24-0 lead on the way to defeating West Virginia State 38-7 Saturday afternoon in gridiron action.

            The Yellow Jackets actually controlled the ball for the majority of the contest holding more than a five minute advantage in time of possession at the end of the game.

          The Mountain Lions scored twice after WVSU turnovers, including their first touchdown of the day which capped an 80-yard drive that began with an interception after the Yellow Jackets had driven to the Concord 27.

          Fabian Payne had the biggest day of the season for a Yellow Jacket running back so far picking up 106 yards on 18 carries. Senior receiver Landon Johnson hauled in seven passes for 83 yards.

          Quarterback Ricky Phillips connected with Robert Jackson on a four-yard pass in the third quarter for the lone WVSU score of the game.
