Sean McAndrews enters his 28th year at West Virginia State University in 2023-24. He currently serves as the Associate Director of Athletics for NCAA Compliance.
McAndrews has been likened to a Swiss Army knife, filling in at various roles over the years and developing a diverse set of skills in the process. His office is frequented by students, faculty and staff that are looking for answers to questions from an absurdly wide range of topics.
McAndrews is responsible for all areas of NCAA and MEC compliance. This includes the oversight and education of the entire athletics staff on compliance issues, checking the academic and financial eligibility of all student-athletes, compiling annual reports to ensure compliance with NCAA and MEC guidelines, and creating documents that state rules and regulations to be followed.
McAndrews is in charge of Game Administration and acts as the Facilities Manager for the West Virginia State athletics department. His duties include coordinating schedules to avoid facility-use from coinciding, organizing staffing needs for every home event, and dealing with in-game and extracurricular incidents.
McAndrews holds a Master’s of Arts in Education Administration and a Bachelor’s of Science in Secondary Education from West Virginia University.
Originally from Weirton, W.Va., McAndrews is a fan of Pittsburgh sports teams. He is a proud brother of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He is married to WCHS news anchor Jenifer McAndrews. They have one daughter, Julia McAndrews.
