Javien Ralph enters his first year at West Virginia State University in 2025–26 as the Assistant Track & Field and Cross Country Coach.
Ralph comes to Institute after a successful run at East Hartford High School in Connecticut, where he served as Assistant Head Football Coach and Assistant Track & Field Coach. On the track, he specialized in the throwing events—shot put, discus, hammer, javelin, and weight throw—while also assisting with sprints and distance training. His efforts helped produce three consecutive Girls’ Individual Shot Put State Championships (2023–25) and guided East Hartford to the 2025 Boys’ State Track & Field Championship.
In football, Ralph oversaw the defensive line and directed the junior varsity program while contributing to varsity game planning and opponent scouting. He also gained collegiate experience at Post University in 2022, working under Head Coach John Boisette to support athlete development across multiple events.
A native of Bloomfield, Conn., Ralph was a four-year varsity letterman at Bloomfield High School before continuing his football career at Becker College, where he was a two-time All-Conference selection. He later studied Sports Management at Becker and Business at Manchester Community College.
Outside of coaching, Ralph has worked in education and student support, most recently as the In-School Suspension and Behavior Intervention Coordinator at East Hartford High School. His background in both athletics and academics reflects his holistic approach to mentoring student-athletes.
